“The Lost Muslim” documentary series produced by Brown Bread Films has just collected a Sandford St Martin Award in London. The very personal project for presenter Baz Ashmawy was awarded the 2nd prize in the best TV category.
The Sandford St Martin Awards are the UK’s most prestigious broadcast awards for radio, TV and online programmes that reflect religious, spiritual or ethical themes. They are the only awards that welcome entries about any and all faiths.
In the 2-part series, Baz embarks on a personal journey of discovery, hoping to re-embrace his Egyptian heritage and to understand properly for the first time the culture and beliefs of the Muslim faith into which he was born, but which he hasn’t practised since childhood.
This is the third award for Baz Ashmawy and Barry Egan founders of Brown Bread Films. They previously won an IFTA and an international Emmy award for their series 50 Ways to kill your Mammy so it seems like there is no stopping this succesfull production company and we look forward to what’s coming next.
Joanne McGrath directed this two part programme with Guy Montgomery editing. We did all of the picture and sound post production.
