There is great excitement here in Egg at the moment with the announcement of the IFTA Film and Drama nominations. We are thrilled that our sound team led by Patrick Drummond and Aza Hand were nominated for Best Sound for Lorcan Finnegan’s horror thriller Without Name.
Describing itself as a psychotropic faery story, the film follows a land surveyor (Alan McKenna) on assignment to measure an ancient forest for a developer but soon looses his reason in a supernatural environment that has it’s own plans. He finds himself disturbed and beguiled by the strange silhouette that moves amongst its trees.
Having already screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, London Film Festival and the Dublin International Film Festival to name a few it has been gathering a lot of attention and brilliant reviews. So Congratulations to Lorcan Finnegan, Lovely productions and everyone involved. Its great that all this emerging talent is getting the recognition it deserves.
Well done to EGG’s sound team Aza Hand, Patrick Drummond, Colm Mullally, Katie O’Mahony and Colm Finnegan for the nomination. We’ll be rooting for them on the night! Hopefully this year will be their year!
Berlin based M-Appeal acquired the world sales rights so it will screen in main stream cinemas soon.
Congratulations also to Love and Friendship which has received 4 nominations including Best Film. We had the pleasure of working with Oscar winning director Whit Stillman when the film was in production here last year. It went on to be one of highest grossing films in Ireland of 2016.
And last but not least well done to I Am Not A Serial Killer for its nomination. The Irish American co production starring Max Records (Where the Wild Things Are) and movie legend Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future) and produced by Floodland Pictures is out on DVD and VOD and is worth hunting down if you missed it.
