Gary Shortall: Founder/Co-CEO

Co-founder and joint CEO, Gareth has been working in the Film and TV industry since Gary’s obsession with editing began in the 1980’s when he figured out how to connect two VHS machines together to edit a video for his new band. This then led to an obsession with audio and how to record the perfect drum sound, an obsession which still remains.

Plan A was to become a rockstar but Plan B quickly fell into place when Gary left college in 1990 and joined a production company in Dublin as a trainee assistant editor. Working with some of Irelands top editors gave Gary an unique opportunity to learn his trade and he quickly established himself in the industry.

Around this time he bumped into Gareth while freelancing in Belfast and they became instant friends. Which is why it’s no surprise that in 2004, having worked together for more than 10 years, they were involved in setting up EGG.

In the early years of EGG Gary continued working as an editor but as the business grew, management responsibilities took over as Gary and Gareth began developing EGG into the hugely successful business it is today. Over the years Gary has overseen the post production of countless hours of Television and Feature Film projects while supervising the teams at EGG. Along the way Gary led the creation of the EGG Sound Department which is now a cornerstone of EGG Post and brought his two obsessions together under one old Georgian roof.. Along with Gary he heads up the management team and specialises in the  technical development and efficient workflows in EGG, keeping us at the forefront in the fast changing Post and VFX industry, allowing EGG to  maintain it's reputation as a world- class facility.
