Sundance Winner How to Divorce During the War Enters the Oscar Race

Andrius Blaževičius' Sundance directing award winner — co-produced for Ireland by Feline Films and finished at EGG in Dublin — will contest Best International Feature at the 99th Academy Awards.

How to Divorce During the War is in the running for Best International Feature at the 99th Academy Awards, selected as Lithuania's entry in the category.

Written and directed by Andrius Blaževičius, the film premiered in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, where Blaževičius won the Directing Award. Set in Vilnius in 2022, it follows a couple whose decision to separate collides with the outbreak of the full-scale war in Ukraine.

It is a four-country co-production — M-Films in Lithuania with Red Lion (Luxembourg), Feline Films (Ireland) and Bionaut (Czech Republic) — produced by Marija Razgutė.

Feline Films co-produced for Ireland, with Jessie Fisk co-producing. The film was supported by Screen Ireland alongside the Lithuanian Film Centre, LRT, Film Fund Luxembourg, the Czech Film Fund and Creative Europe MEDIA.

EGG completed finishing on the film in Dublin.

Zeitgeist Films, in association with Kino Lorber, is releasing the film in North America. New Europe Film Sales handles world sales.

The Academy announces its shortlists on 15 December 2026 and its nominations on 21 January 2027. The 99th Academy Awards ceremony takes place on 14 March 2027.

Congratulations to Andrius Blaževičius, Marija Razgutė, and to Jessie Fisk and everyone at Feline Films.
