Festival Award
Skintown Wins Top Prize at the Edinburgh International Film Festival
A huge congratulations to the team behind Skintown, winner of the Sean Connery Prize for Feature Filmmaking Excellence — the top prize at the 2026 Edinburgh International Film Festival.
Directed by Kieron J. Walsh and adapted by Ciaran McMenamin from his own novel, Skintown is set in Enniskillen in the summer of 1994, following two best friends determined to escape small-town life against the backdrop of the ceasefire. It was one of ten world premieres in competition, and the £50,000 prize was voted for by festival audiences — which makes it all the sweeter. The award was presented at Edinburgh’s Cameo Cinema by Jason Connery on behalf of The Connery Foundation.
The film was made with the support of Northern Ireland Screen, Screen Ireland, Coimisiún na Meán, RTÉ and BBC Northern Ireland.
EGG is proud to have provided all post-production and visual effects for the film — picture, sound, online and VFX — delivered by our team in Dublin.
Congratulations to director Kieron J. Walsh, writer Ciaran McMenamin, and producers Yvonne Donohoe (Keeper Pictures) and Brendan J. Byrne (Cyprus Avenue Films), and to the full cast and crew.
